Bij deze methode stel je de thermometer in op de temperatuur van kokend water, 212\u2070F of 100\u2070C. Het is niet de veiligste methode, maar het werkt wel. Je vult een pan met water, zet deze op een gasfornuis en brengt het water aan de kook. Vervolgens steek je de sonde van de thermometer in het kokende water en stel je de temperatuur in. Deze manier van kalibreren is niet de veiligste, omdat je je handen boven het kokende water moet houden terwijl je de thermometer kalibreert.
