Ze hebben allemaal ingebouwde sensoren die de temperatuur nauwkeurig meten en op het scherm weergeven. De sensoren genereren stroom, weerstand of spanning, en wanneer er een temperatuurverandering optreedt, detecteren de sensoren deze verandering. Er zijn twee metingen nodig om de exacte temperatuur te bepalen. De eerste meting wordt uitgevoerd door de zogenaamde &quot;koudepuntcompensatie&quot;-sensor, die de temperatuur meet waaraan de thermokoppel is gekoppeld.<\/p>\n<p>Daarna berekent het het mV-signaal door de thermokoppel. Ten slotte berekent het de exacte temperatuur op afstand van de thermometer door de &quot;koudepuntcompensatie&quot; van het warme-eindsignaal af te trekken. We kunnen deze thermometer ook wel een ohmmeter noemen, omdat hij in essentie vergelijkbaar is met een ohmmeter. Hij meet de weerstand met behulp van een sensor. De werking is als volgt: er wordt een kleine stroom of spanning naar de sensor gestuurd en vervolgens wordt de weerstand over de sensor gemeten.<\/p>\n<p>Om de meetfouten bij deze thermometer te minimaliseren, wordt vaak een 4-draads aansluiting gebruikt. Twee draden in dit systeem meten de spanning of stroom over de sensor en twee draden zorgen voor de bekrachtiging. Hij geeft een kleine lineaire spanning af die evenredig is met de temperatuur. Hij zet zijn weerstand echter om in een niet-lineaire variabele die afhankelijk is van de temperatuur. De thermometer levert een excitatiestroom of -spanning aan de thermistor. Deze verandering in de weerstand van de thermistor is aanzienlijk groter dan de weerstand van de aansluitdraden. Deze thermistor heeft een 2-draads aansluiting.
