S1: Do I need to drill a hole to install the ProTemp S1?

No need if your grill has an analog thermometer—just replace it. If there’s no hole (like on some offset smokers), you can drill one. Just skip drilling on ceramic grills.

ProTemp Plus Series: Is it waterproof?

The ProTemp Plus Series is built for reliable outdoor performance, featuring a durable stand with IP55 water resistance and a fully waterproof probe rated IP68. It performs well even in rainy conditions—ideal for extended BBQ sessions, rain or shine. However, for the best results and long-term durability, we recommend avoiding direct exposure to heavy rain during outdoor use. A covered cooking area or light shielding can help protect the device while maintaining accurate readings.

Breezo Fan: Is it waterproof?

Breezo Fan is not waterproof. Please ensure it stays dry at all times. Water exposure may cause malfunction or permanent damage, so handle with care around liquids.

S1: Isn’t ProTemp S1 just for beginners?

Totally get it—there’s nothing like the confidence of a seasoned grill master . But the ProTemp S1 isn’t about replacing skill—it’s about giving you more freedom. With everything wireless, you can monitor your cook from inside or even while running errands. No more standing in the cold or doing midnight temp checks. Paired with the Breezo fan and a wireless probe, it keeps temps rock steady. Think of it less like “rookie stuff” and more like a smart upgrade to your already sharp instincts. After all, even pros deserve a break.

2nd-Gen Probe: Can I charge my 2nd-Gen New Probe on the 4-in-1 Charger?

Yes. This 2nd-Gen Probe can be connected to ProTemp S1 and ProTemp 2 Plus, and can also be charged via the ChefsTemp 4-in-1 Charger.
Note: It is not recommended to use it for Original ProTemp Plus, as it may not be compatible. Please do not purchase this product without ProTemp S1 or ProTemp 2 Plus!

Breezo Fan: Can the fan be installed on my cooking device?
The Breezo Fan is designed for precise temperature control in charcoal grills, smokers, and cookers, automating airflow to maintain your desired cooking temperature. It is not necessary for pellet or gas grills, as it is specifically tailored for charcoal-based systems. The Breezo Fan is highly versatile and compatible with most charcoal grills and smokers. Below is a list of common models and installation methods: 1. Models with Included Mounting Plates: For these models, the Breezo Fan can be installed directly using the two Kamado-style mounting plates included in the package. Simply replace the existing vent system by positioning the Breezo Fan over the vent and sealing any gaps with the provided high-temperature flue tape. Including: Kamado Joe Classic II, Kamado Big Joe III, Primo XL 400 Grill, Primo Oval Large, Primo Smoker, Pit Barrel Cooker, Pit Boss Kamado, Pit Boss Ceramic Kamado, Cypress Ceramic Kamado Bayou Classic Grill, Big Green Egg, Vision Grills Series Classic, Broil King Keg 2000, Char-Griller AKORN Jr. Kamado Charcoal Grill 2. Models with Direct Fit: For these models, the Breezo Fan can be inserted directly into the existing vent opening, and any additional vent holes should be sealed with high-temperature flue tape (included). Including: Weber Summit Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Backwoods Chubby 3400 3. Smokers with Round Vent Holes: For these models, simply insert the Breezo Fan into one of the round vent holes and cover any remaining holes with the included high-temperature flue tape. Including: Komodo Kamado, Char-Griller Offset Smoker, Broil King Keg 5000 4. Other Solutions:
  • For grills or smokers without a suitable vent opening, you can drill a 1.25-inch hole to attach the Breezo Fan directly, then seal any gaps with high-temperature flue tape.
  • For large offset smokers, consider cutting a stainless steel plate to fit your smoker’s opening, then drill a 1.25-inch hole to attach the Breezo Fan.
  • For Weber Kettle grills, a 1.25-inch hole must be drilled for installation. You can refer to our instructional video for guidance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_JR379c4-c&t.
5. Additional Mounting Kit Requirements: In most cases, the included Kamado-style mounting plates and high-temperature flue tape are sufficient for installation. If your device is listed above under direct-fit or Kamado mounting plate-compatible models, no additional mounting kit is necessary. However, for specific setups, an optional Breezo Fan Mounting Kit may be required.
  • 1.18″ Universal Mounting Kit: Fits factory-installed ports measuring 1.18″ (30 mm) dia.
  • 3/4″ Threaded Breezo Fan Mounting Kit: Designed to screw into a 3/4″ ball valve
  • 1.5″ Threaded Breezo Fan Mounting Kit: Designed to screw into a 1.5″ ball valve (Suitable for OCGF Smoker)
  • 2″ Threaded Breezo Fan Mounting Kit: Designed to screw into a 2″ ball valve

S1: Can I buy one S1 and an additional Base unit to use the Main display unit with both?

Good question! This is one of ProTemp S1’s standout features! You can pair a single Main Display Unit with multiple Base Units. This is especially useful for large grills or multi-zone setups, allowing you to mount Base Units in different locations while saving on additional display costs.

S1: Can I buy several ProTemp S1 units and monitor them with the same app?

Yes, you can monitor up to 3 ProTemp S1 units within one app. With just a simple swipe on the screen, you can easily switch between different devices.

S1: Can I use the ProTemp S1 on a gas pig cooker for better accuracy?

Yes, sure. You can use the ProTemp S1 on a gas cooker or grill.

S1: Can ProTemp S1 be installed on my cooking device?
The ProTemp S1 comes in 4 versions: the Universal Version, the BGE (Big Green Egg) Version, the 5.5″ Special Edition, and the 1.5″ Short Stem Edition. Please measure the diameter of your grill’s existing thermometer port to ensure the best fit. If the hole is 7.8 mm (0.3 inches) or larger, the Universal Version is suitable. For smaller holes, such as those on a Big Green Egg, choose the BGE Version.
  • Universal Version: This model has a base stem diameter of 7.8 mm (0.3 inches) and is compatible with most grills and smokers, including Weber, Kamado Joe (except Big Green Egg), drum, offset, and kettle grills. It’s ideal if your grill’s gauge hole is approximately 0.3 inches or larger.
  • BGE Version: Designed specifically for Big Green Egg grills or other grills with smaller gauge holes like Primo Oval XL, this version has a thinner base stem diameter of 4.1 mm (0.16 inches). It’s perfect for Big Green Egg, Primo Oval XL, or similar grills with smaller ports (For the Primo XL series, since the thermometer hole diameter may vary depending on the production year, it is recommended to measure the diameter of the thermometer hole before purchasing the ProTemp S1).
  • 5.5″ Special Edition: Its base stem diameter is the same as the Universal Version, at 7.8 mm (0.3 inches), but its stem length is longer, at 5.5 inches, making it suitable for devices where the thermometer is farther from the food, like the Old Country Gravity Fed smoker.
  • 1.5″ Short Stem Edition: Retaining the same base stem diameter as the Universal Version, at 7.8 mm (0.3 inches). This model features a shorter 1.5-inch stem. The reduced length ensures better compatibility with grills requiring limited internal clearance, preventing interference with lid operation. It’s particularly well-suited for certain gas grills, such as the Weber Genesis and Napoleon Prestige PRO series.
For installation, the ProTemp S1 easily replaces your existing analog gauge by loosening the fixing nut and inserting the S1 through the hole. If your device doesn’t have an existing gauge, you may need to drill a hole to install it (avoid drilling ceramic grills).
